Pušić defends Al-Ahli performance after 0-0 draw with Al-Sadd amid fan pressure

Dutch coach Marino Pušić faced chants of "Pušić out" from Al-Ahli fans following a 0-0 draw against Qatar's Al-Sadd in the AFC Champions League Elite fourth round. The result extended a run of poor performances, coming after a 6-1 defeat to Al-Shabab in the Saudi Roshn League, with reports suggesting the coach's position was under threat.

Pušić left the pitch without saluting fans after the match, prompting questions about his future. When asked to explain, he said he preferred to let players receive supporter appreciation directly, describing the gesture as "a very special moment for the players."

On the draw itself, Pušić expressed disappointment despite defending his team's display. He described the result as "a draw with the taste of defeat," saying his side had dominated play and created numerous chances but lacked finishing. He cited Al-Sadd's goalkeeper winning man of the match as evidence of the danger Al-Ahli posed.

"I am very proud of what the players delivered on the pitch," Pušić said. "We played well and dominated the course of the match significantly, and we lacked the finishing after we wasted many chances."
