Crysencio Summerville broke a nearly six-week scoring drought with a brilliant individual performance as Al-Hilal defeated Al-Ittihad 3-0 in Saturday's Saudi Clasico at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. The Dutch winger's 64th-minute strike showcased the technical ability that earned him his summer transfer from West Ham United, providing an emphatic answer to questions about his consistency since arriving in the Saudi Roshn League.
Summerville's goal-scoring struggles had become a talking point among Al-Hilal supporters. His previous strike came exactly 40 days earlier in the first Clasico meeting against Al-Ahli on 1 September, when he also netted in a 3-0 victory during the third round of the Roshn League. The intervening four matches—three in Saudi domestic competition and one in the AFC Champions League Elite—yielded no goals, raising questions about his adaptation to a new league and playing style. Saturday's display against Al-Ittihad provided the perfect stage to silence such concerns.
Clinical Finish Caps Impressive Performance
The former Hammers winger produced a moment of pure quality when it mattered most. After dribbling past multiple Al-Ittihad defenders with quick feet and sharp directional changes, Summerville found the space to deliver a precise finish past Serbian goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic. The goal epitomized his attacking threat: direct, purposeful, and executed with the poise expected of a player commanding such a significant transfer fee.
Since joining Al-Hilal ahead of the 2024-25 season, Summerville has contributed three goals and three assists across all competitions. His ability to create chances remains undiminished, yet consistency in front of goal had wavered until Saturday's breakthrough. The winger operates as a key component of Al-Hilal's attacking setup, and his rediscovered form could prove decisive in their pursuit of silverware across multiple fronts this campaign.
With the Clasico victory extending Al-Hilal's position atop the Saudi Roshn League standings, Summerville will be eager to build momentum from this performance and establish himself as a reliable threat week after week.
