Marchegiani described the stop as "extraordinary," noting that Maignan was moving and faced a shot from close range. "Nine times out of ten, that ball goes in," Marchegiani said, explaining that Maignan redirected the ball upward after recognizing that a conventional parry would have been impossible. "Watching it live, you had the sense you'd witnessed a miracle, but even looking at the replay, I think he showed incredible reactions."
