AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale has confirmed he is exploring a possible investment in Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, reportedly owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF). Speaking to Repubblica, Cardinale said preliminary discussions have already taken place about buying shares in the club.
Cardinale indicated he expects to meet Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Al-Nassr, though he cautioned that curiosity about the forward's post-playing career is not itself sufficient reason to acquire a team.
The Milan owner also outlined his broader ambitions beyond football. He stated he wants to secure an NBA Europe franchise to play in San Donato, and is pursuing interests in basketball and tennis alongside his football operations.
Cardinale discussed his approach to ownership at Milan, saying: "I'm not a football professional, I'm an owner. But whoever comes in will have to work with me; I won't disappear again. I've lost four years, and I'm furious about that lost time. I'll never hand over the keys to AC Milan to anyone again."
On Serie A's competitive position, he compared Italian football to Hollywood studios before streaming platforms disrupted the industry, arguing the league must understand why it no longer matches the Premier League's standing and that change is necessary for future success.
