Bayern Munich Eyes Hertha Berlin Prospect Kennet Eichhorn in

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed the Bavarian club is actively monitoring Kennet Eichhorn, the 16-year-old Hertha Berlin sensation attracting attention from European elite. Speaking ahead of Bayern's DFB-Pokal final victory over Stuttgart, Eberl signalled the club's intent to pursue the talented midfielder who has already become a regular starter in Germany's second tier despite his youth.

"I think if you see Kenny Eichhorn—and FC Bayern wouldn't deal with that—then we wouldn't be doing our job," Eberl told Bild, acknowledging the competitive landscape for emerging talent. Eichhorn has impressed with 17 appearances for Hertha this season, establishing himself as integral to the Berlin side's midfield. His performances have triggered interest from Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, making the race for his signature one of European football's most closely watched recruitment battles.

Summer Transfer Window Priorities

The teenage midfielder is widely expected to depart Hertha when the transfer window opens, though Eberl was measured in his expectations about timing and fit. "Now you have to see if that fits in and what the ideas are for him and his management. Whether that happens then is something else entirely," the Bayern chief noted, suggesting negotiations remain fluid with multiple suitors in contention.

Alongside Eichhorn, Bayern are preparing bids to strengthen their attacking options. Eberl confirmed that Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has emerged as a target, with the club prepared to invest if the right profile materializes at an acceptable price. "We agree that we will bring in an attacking player if he can be financed," Eberl stated, underlining the club's ambition to bolster their frontline.

Bayern's recruitment push comes following a domestic double—securing the Bundesliga title and DFB-Pokal under Vincent Kompany—though their Champions League semi-final exit to Paris Saint-Germain exposed vulnerabilities in European competition. The German champions have not won Europe's premier club competition since 2020, making squad reinforcement critical as they target continental success in the 2025-26 campaign.
