Bayern Munich Transfer Targets: Eberl Addresses Gordon,

Max Eberl has provided fresh insight into Bayern Munich's summer transfer plans, confirming the club's pursuit of attacking reinforcements while ruling out moves for established Premier League defenders. Speaking ahead of Saturday's DFB Cup final against Stuttgart, the sporting director outlined an ambitious but measured strategy for 2025.

Bayern's primary focus remains landing a world-class striker after deciding not to extend Nicolas Jackson's loan from Chelsea. Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United has emerged as the club's leading target, with reports suggesting Bayern and the 25-year-old English winger have already reached personal terms. The stumbling block remains Newcastle's valuation: the Premier League side is demanding approximately €86 million, a fee Bayern considers prohibitive. Eberl confirmed the club's commitment without naming Gordon directly, stating: "We agree that we will sign an attacking player if we can afford him. We had a very good discussion and hope to make progress."

Youth Investment and Defensive Shifts

Beyond the senior squad, Bayern are actively tracking emerging talent. Kennet Eichhorn, the 16-year-old midfielder from Hertha BSC, represents the club's latest youth pursuit. The highly regarded prospect could arrive for a €12 million structured fee, though multiple suitors are monitoring his development. Eberl acknowledged Bayern's interest while emphasizing careful evaluation: "If you see Kenny Eichhorn and FC Bayern weren't looking into it, then we wouldn't be doing our job. Now we have to see if it fits and what his and his management's expectations are."

Defensively, Bayern are weighing departures for both Min-Jae Kim and Hiroki Ito should attractive offers materialize. Eberl decisively dismissed speculation linking Manchester City's John Stones to the Allianz Arena, branding the reports as "not true." However, Josko Gvardiol, the 24-year-old City centre-back, remains under consideration. For the right-back position, Bayern have identified Givairo Read of Feyenoord Rotterdam as a potential recruit. Following free transfers of Leon Goretzka and Raphael Guerreiro, the club aims to bolster midfield depth with young talent.

Bayern's measured approach reflects a squad largely satisfied with its foundations. With only one or two key positions requiring attention, the club's summer window will determine whether they can bridge the gap between ambition and financial reality in landing Gordon or consolidating resources around youth development.
