Kompany's Failed Attempt to Keep Jackson
Speaking on Sky90, Matthäus revealed that Kompany had internally pushed to keep Jackson beyond the current campaign. "Kompany is convinced of Jackson's quality and would have liked to keep him in Munich," Matthäus stated. However, the manager faced a financial barrier: the asking price was simply too steep for Bayern's board to justify. Kompany made his position clear internally, but even his backing could not bridge the gap between the club's willingness to spend and Chelsea's valuation.
Bayern paid a €16.5 million loan fee last summer, securing Jackson's services for the 2024-25 season. Sporting director Max Eberl confirmed in late April that the forward would return to Stamford Bridge once the loan expired, ending speculation about a permanent move. Jackson has delivered solid contributions with 10 goals and 4 assists across 33 competitive matches, proving effective as a backup option in Bayern's attacking setup.

Bayern's injury concerns eased after Leon Goretzka sustained a head injury during the 1-0 victory over Wolfsburg.
