Sergio Aguero Named in Argentine Drug Trafficking

Sergio Agüero, the legendary Argentine forward, has become entangled in a judicial investigation centered on an international drug trafficking and money laundering organization. However, authorities have made clear that the former Manchester City striker is not facing criminal charges. Instead, his name appears in case files because members of the suspected criminal network attempted to leverage his global prominence and commercial ventures for illicit purposes.

According to documents reviewed by Judge Pablo Yadarola's team, individuals connected to the organization sought to exploit Agüero's image through a ticketing platform project called "Krü Tickets," which was to be linked to his esports organization. The investigators suspect the network of smuggling cocaine from Bolivia and importing synthetic drugs from Spain across international borders. Police arrested multiple suspects, including Pibot Álvarez, who subsequently initiated a hunger strike while in custody.

Timeline of Commercial Negotiations

Seized mobile devices revealed a series of communications between suspected gang members negotiating the ticketing venture. On 30 January 2026, Diego Francisco Anzaloni messaged associate Bono Ozzie de Carlucci expressing optimism about reaching a deal with Agüero imminently. By late April, Anzaloni claimed to have met Agüero in person and reported the commercial arrangement was nearing completion. The group also discussed channeling the project through multiple corporate entities—one allegedly connected to a drug dealer, the other tied directly to the footballer's business interests.

The investigation uncovered attempts to raise approximately 10,000 euros from external investors, with Anzaloni allegedly offering to provide capital so that Agüero himself would avoid initial financial contribution. Communications also referenced a trip to Mexico designed to accelerate negotiations. The premises where some activities occurred was located on Ricardo Bocchini Street in Avellaneda, near the Independiente stadium in Buenos Aires.

Agüero's Position Remains Clear

Throughout the investigation, no evidence has surfaced suggesting Agüero knowingly participated in or benefited from any illicit enterprise. His name surfaced purely as a commercial asset that the criminal network sought to exploit for money laundering purposes. The former striker, who retired in 2021 and has since built ventures in gaming and technology, has not been named as a defendant in the case. The judicial process continues to examine the full scope of the organization's international operations, but Agüero's involvement remains limited to unwitting association with his own legitimate business brand.
