The Algerian defender confirmed that the Argentina captain apologised instantly after a tackle in the 31st minute that refereeing experts believed warranted a red card.
The match ended 3-0 in Argentina's favour, but the flashpoint overshadowed the contest. Messi launched himself into a challenge on Mandi's leg moments after opening the scoring, yet Polish referee Szymon Marciniak issued only a foul with no video review intervention.
