Scott McTominay £20 Note Celebrates Scotland's World Cup

Scott McTominay has been immortalised on a limited edition £20 banknote by the Bank of Scotland, commemorating his stunning overhead kick against Denmark that secured the nation's place at the 2026 World Cup. The midfielder's spectacular goal during Scotland's 4-2 victory at Hampden Park ended a 28-year drought for the men's team, and the bank has chosen to celebrate the historic qualification by featuring the moment on currency.

Only 100 notes have been printed, making this one of the rarest pieces of Scottish memorabilia. The design merges traditional banknote aesthetics with modern imagery, placing McTominay's iconic overhead kick at the centre of the composition. Half the notes will be released through collector auctions, prize draws, and interactive pop-up events in Edinburgh and Glasgow, where fans can attempt to unlock a vault code for a chance to win one.

Proceeds Support Homelessness Charity

The initiative carries significant charitable value. All funds raised from the auctions and prize draws will be donated to Crisis Scotland, an organisation dedicated to ending homelessness across the country. Emma Noble, chair of the Scottish executive committee at the Bank of Scotland, highlighted the dual purpose: "Securing qualification in such dramatic fashion is a moment fans will never forget, and we wanted to mark it in a way that's rooted in Scottish identity."

McTominay expressed his honour at the recognition, saying moments like his goal belong to everyone who supports the national team. The midfielder's overhead kick has already become part of Scottish football folklore, representing the breakthrough moment that sent the Tartan Army into raptures and confirmed qualification for the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Scotland's 2026 World Cup Fixture List

With World Cup preparation underway, Scotland's campaign represents a watershed moment for the country.
