Jamal Musiala Handed Driving Ban After Speeding Accident in

Jamal Musiala has been handed a driving ban and fine following a serious motorway collision in April 2025. Munich Local Court issued a final penalty order on 28 January 2026 against the Bayern Munich midfielder for negligent endangerment of road traffic and negligent bodily harm after the high-speed incident on the A8 motorway.

The accident occurred when Musiala was driving at 194 km/h in a 120 km/h zone while overtaking a VW Golf. The collision left the other vehicle's occupants with minor injuries and caused approximately €200,000 in property damage. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder accepted the court's decision and acknowledged his responsibility for the incident. "Of course, I take full responsibility," Musiala told Bild. "I am all the more grateful that nobody was seriously injured as a result of my carelessness."

Road Safety and Club Support

Musiala's driving licence was revoked in mid-February and he cannot reapply until nine months after the penalty order became final. The Bayern Munich star described the accident as "a life-changing event" that he needed time to process emotionally. Both FC Bayern and the German Football Association offered their support throughout the legal proceedings.

The speeding incident was followed by further misfortune when Musiala suffered a serious ankle injury during the Club World Cup in late 2025. A clash with Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma resulted in a broken fibula and ligament damage, sidelining him for several months. The German international returned to training in mid-January but experienced another setback in March when pain returned to the injured ankle.

Return to Form and World Cup Ambitions

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has publicly backed Musiala during his recovery period, highlighting the midfielder's physical improvements while waiting for his creative spark to fully return. "When that total freedom returns—and it will—then you'll have a more developed version of Jamal Musiala," Kompany stated in early May. With a World Cup on the horizon, Musiala remains focused on recapturing the attacking brilliance that established him as one of Europe's most promising talents before these twin setbacks.
