Jamal Musiala has been stripped of his driving licence following a high-speed motorway collision in April 2025. The Bayern Munich midfielder was travelling at 194 km/h in a 120 km/h zone on the A8 motorway near Salzburg when he struck a Volkswagen Golf during an overtaking manoeuvre.
The 23-year-old Germany international was driving an Audi RS e-tron GT, a high-performance electric vehicle, with his younger sister as a passenger. The collision injured two occupants of the Golf—a 30-year-old man and 26-year-old woman—both sustaining minor injuries. Property damage totalled approximately €200,000. Musiala immediately attended to those involved, according to reports.
Legal Consequences and Driving Ban
On January 28, 2026, Munich District Court issued a legally binding penal order against Musiala for negligent endangerment of road traffic and negligent bodily injury in two cases. In addition to a financial fine, the court revoked his driving privileges. According to Florian Lindemann, spokesperson for the Munich I Public Prosecutor's Office, Musiala cannot apply for a new driving licence for at least nine months from the order's effective date, placing his return to driving in autumn 2026.
The incident marks another setback for the talented playmaker during a turbulent campaign. Musiala suffered a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle at the Club World Cup in late 2024, sidelining him for months. Upon his January return, an ankle injury in March further hindered his availability. The driving ban adds an off-pitch complication as he continues his recovery and aims to regain full match fitness for Bayern Munich's domestic and European campaigns.
The prosecution statement from Lindemann clarified the facts: "During an overtaking manoeuvre, the accused Jamal M., who was driving at excessive speed at the time, overlooked a car driving to his right, resulting in a collision." Musiala's representatives acknowledged the incident following recent public inquiries.
