Jamal Musiala has opened up about missing Thomas Müller's presence at Bayern Munich, acknowledging the void left by the club legend's departure to Vancouver Whitecaps last summer. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder revealed that Müller's guidance proved invaluable during his formative years at the Bavarian club, and he would relish the chance to lean on that experience now.
"His presence, his vibe – that's something you really miss," Musiala told Sky Sports. The pair shared the pitch together from 2020 until 2025, with Musiala gradually establishing himself as a key player whilst maintaining a strong relationship with the veteran. Müller played his 756th and final match for Bayern in the Club World Cup quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain last summer, a game that proved significant for Musiala in a different way—he suffered a fibula fracture that sidelined him for months.

Musiala's comeback has been inconsistent, marked by both encouraging spells and disappointing moments. He failed to make a decisive impact when Bayern faced PSG again in the Champions League semi-final rematch. Despite the setbacks, the German international remains optimistic about his trajectory. "I'd like to have a good chat with him after a phase like this," Musiala said, highlighting how much he valued Müller's counsel during difficult periods.
The midfielder acknowledged that he has experienced "good spells and sometimes not-so-good spells," which he views as a natural part of recovery. When reflecting on his current form against expectations from several months ago, he expressed contentment: "I'm very, very happy."
