Speaking alongside Oliver Kahn in an interview with Bild, Schweinsteiger made a pointed observation about Musiala's conduct during Germany's round of 32 fixture against Paraguay. "I find it telling that Musiala's best moment was only a sliding tackle," Schweinsteiger remarked, contrasting this defensive contribution with what he expected from an attacking player of Musiala's calibre. The comment highlighted a broader concern: Musiala was fouled 12 times in one match yet shook hands with his opponent after each infraction—a reaction Schweinsteiger felt undermined the competitive intensity required at international level.
