Jordon Ibe, the former Liverpool and Bournemouth winger, has been handed a community service order after being convicted of assaulting his former partner. The 30-year-old appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Friday for sentencing following his admission of guilt to actual bodily harm charges.
The incident occurred in December in the Lambeth area of south London when an argument erupted between Ibe and Emmy Mason. According to court proceedings, Mason demanded repayment of money she believed Ibe owed her. When she called him a drug addict, Ibe grabbed her hair and pulled out a lock, leaving a visible bald patch on her scalp. The Metropolitan Police arrested him at Luton Airport in January, with charges filed in February.
Sentencing and Penalty
Ibe changed his plea to guilty in July and appeared contrite during Friday's sentencing hearing. The court imposed the following penalties:
- A 12-month community service order
- 80 hours of unpaid work
- 27 days of rehabilitation activities
- A fine of £764
The winger, who represented England at youth level, told magistrates he had made a serious mistake and expressed genuine remorse for his actions.

Ibe's professional journey has seen a sharp decline in recent years. After coming through the academies of Charlton Athletic and Wycombe Wanderers, he joined Liverpool in 2012, where he made 58 first-team appearances. His most prolific period came at Bournemouth, where across two separate spells he accumulated 119 Premier League matches between 2016 and 2020. Following loan moves to Birmingham City and Derby County, his career trajectory shifted toward lower divisions beginning in 2023 with Ebbsfleet United, followed by several brief spells in the non-league pyramid. He most recently played for Bulgarian outfit Lokomotiv Sofia before departing in June and currently remains without a club.
The conviction marks another chapter in the former England youth international's fall from the elite level of English football, with his next steps uncertain as he serves his community sentence.
