Veerman's relationship with Koeman deteriorated significantly in recent months, with the former manager critiquing the midfielder's character and subsequently excluding him from squad selections. The 25-year-old expressed frustration at being left out without what he considered fair justification. "If you don't select someone because he lacks certain qualities, that's fine," Veerman reflected. "It didn't seem that way in my case, but maybe I'm mistaken."
