Speaking at an event alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino at Trump Tower, the US President referenced a previous round of golf with Kane before offering his assessment of England's tactical approach. Trump remarked that while Kane is a "great player," dropping him into defence appeared counterintuitive when England held the advantage. "They took the lead, and they took their best player and put him on defence," Trump observed, though he acknowledged his limited expertise in football coaching.
Tuchel Defends Deep Block Strategy
Tuchel responded to the criticism during his pre-match press conference, firmly defending both the team's defensive structure and Kane's positioning. The England manager explained that when operating in a deep block defensive formation, all outfield players—including the captain—must retreat together to maintain shape and team cohesion.
