Manchester City and Juventus Target Bayern Goalkeeper

Alexander Nübel's departure from FC Bayern Munich is now confirmed, with Manchester City and Juventus emerging as serious contenders for the German goalkeeper's signature. According to Sport Bild, both Premier League and Serie A powerhouses have already contacted the 29-year-old's representatives, with Bayern demanding a transfer fee between €10–15 million.

Nübel spent the last three seasons on loan at VfB Stuttgart, where he made 129 appearances and helped the club return to the Champions League. However, Stuttgart ultimately rejected a permanent deal, unable to justify matching his €11 million annual salary—a figure Bayern had subsidized by €7 million during the loan spell. The Swabian club will instead promote Dennis Seimen, who impressed on loan at SC Paderborn last season, as their new first-choice goalkeeper.

Bayern's Goalkeeper Overhaul

Nübel was informed months ago by Bayern's goalkeeping coach Michael Rechner that he no longer fits the club's future plans. The directive to find a new club came without a formal discussion with sporting director Max Eberl, signaling a definitive exit from the Bavarian giants. Bayern now hopes for interest from financially robust Premier League clubs to secure their asking price for a goalkeeper signed on a free transfer from Schalke 04 in 2020.

Premier League Interest Outweighs European Alternatives

Manchester City's appeal may be limited, as Gianluigi Donnarumma remains the established number one, and James Trafford—signed for €31 million last summer—holds the deputy role. Newcastle United represent a more realistic opportunity, with both Aaron Ramsdale and Nick Pope competing for minutes this season. Nübel could arrive at St James' Park with genuine first-team prospects, though Bayern are also exploring whether he could function as a makeweight in negotiations for England winger Anthony Gordon, whom Munich has tracked extensively.

Juventus may ultimately offer the clearest path to regular minutes and a fresh challenge in Italian football. After spending three years in the Bundesliga, Nübel faces a pivotal decision on whether to prioritize immediate playing time or financial security in his next move.
