Morgan's Explanation and Defence
Responding on social media, Morgan clarified his path to the pitch. He revealed he purchased four tickets for Crystal Palace's hospitality suite on 4 March for £750 plus VAT each. "Then we got invited into the boardroom, and offered the chance to go pitch-side for the trophy-lift," he explained. "We feel very lucky." Morgan also addressed a viral moment where midfielder Declan Rice placed his winner's medal around his neck for a photograph, dismissing suggestions he had paid for the interaction.
The 59-year-old broadcaster has supported Arsenal for 55 years and claimed he backed the Gunners precisely because he anticipated this moment. "Maybe because I had the foresight to buy 4 tickets at the start of March when I had a feeling it might be a momentous day for the club I've supported for 55 years," Morgan wrote. He also acknowledged that Arteta had "proved me and a lot of people wrong," referencing his earlier criticism of the manager during the team's rebuilding phase.
