Rebekah Vardy Refuses Apology to Coleen Rooney Over Wagatha

Rebekah Vardy has reignited the long-running dispute with Coleen Rooney by insisting she will never apologise for the media leak scandal that dominated headlines throughout 2022. Despite a High Court judge ruling against her in the blockbuster libel case, the 44-year-old wife of Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy continues to maintain her innocence and contests the court's findings.

Speaking candidly about the aftermath of the trial, Vardy dismissed any prospect of reconciliation or extending an olive branch to her rival. "I'm never, ever, going to apologise for something I didn't do... Hell will freeze over before I do that," she declared. While accepting the judgment handed down by Mrs Justice Steyn in July 2022, Vardy remains adamant about her position: "I'm living with the judgment the judge made but, still to this day, I believe she was wrong."

Jamie Vardy Defends His Wife

The fallout extended beyond the two women involved, famously damaging the relationship between England internationals Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney. Breaking his silence, the Leicester striker defended his wife against the public narrative that emerged after the verdict. Jamie dismissed suggestions that Rebekah was the antagonist, saying: "People thinking that Bex was a villain, it's just a load of s*** but everyone close to her knows, that's all she needs. It was really tough seeing Bex in pain, obviously with all the crap coming her way."

The Wagatha Christie saga originated in 2019 when Coleen orchestrated a digital investigation to identify who was leaking her private Instagram stories to The Sun newspaper. By selectively blocking accounts and posting fabricated content about gender selection and home flooding, Rooney posted her viral discovery: "It's... Rebekah Vardy's account." Mrs Justice Steyn ruled comprehensively in Coleen's favour, finding that "significant parts of Mrs Vardy's evidence were not credible" and describing certain defence claims as "manifestly inconsistent" with the evidence.

Despite the shadow cast by the trial, Vardy insists she has moved past the negativity and no longer dwells on the dispute. "I'm so f***ing bored of it," she stated bluntly. Looking forward, the Vardy family is focusing on fresh projects, including a reality television programme documenting Jamie's final season at Leicester City. Regarding any potential future encounter with Coleen, Rebekah showed measured restraint: "My peace is too important. I've got no idea what she thinks of me, but I'm not bothered." The dispute remains one of football's most infamous off-pitch controversies, yet both parties appear intent on moving in separate directions.
