Fenerbahçe is reportedly accelerating negotiations to sign Serhou Guirassy from Borussia Dortmund this summer. According to Turkish outlet TRT Spor, the Istanbul club has made substantial progress in talks with the 30-year-old striker, with club president Sadettin Saran meeting Guirassy face-to-face to reach a "principal agreement" on personal terms.
The Guinean forward remains contracted to the Bundesliga side until 2028, but his representatives have signalled to Dortmund that the club could lower their asking price. Guirassy possesses a €40 million release clause that elite European sides like Real Madrid and Manchester City could trigger, though neither has made a formal approach yet. Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan are also monitoring the situation closely.
Dortmund's Strong Finish Builds Confidence
Despite Guirassy's potential exit, Borussia Dortmund's leadership exuded optimism following the club's final match. Sporting director Lars Ricken highlighted the team's resilience after securing three wins in four games, culminating in a 2-0 victory over Werder Bremen. "We're ending the season on a high and have managed to build up anticipation for next year," Ricken stated, crediting manager Niko Kovac for transforming the squad's fortunes since his arrival.
Dortmund finished second in the Bundesliga standings, eight points ahead of third-placed RB Leipzig, posting their best defensive record in years with the fewest goals conceded. This recovery underscores BVB's structural strength heading into 2024-25, even if the club cannot yet match Bayern Munich's dominance. Contract extensions for young talent further signal the club's commitment to building a competitive squad, with Kovac expected to extend his deal ahead of the upcoming campaign.
