Henry: Arsenal "Not at Level" of PSG Ahead of Champions League Final

Thierry Henry has delivered a stark reality check to Arsenal fans, insisting the Gunners remain below the calibre of Paris Saint-Germain as they prepare for the Champions League final in Budapest on May 30. The Arsenal legend's candid assessment came after PSG's dramatic 6-5 aggregate victory over Bayern Munich in the semi-finals, with a late Harry Kane equaliser making the second leg 1-1 but proving insufficient to overturn the French club's three-goal first-leg advantage.

Speaking on CBS Sports, Henry emphasised the need for humility despite Arsenal's remarkable journey to their first European final since 2006. "We're not in a position to pick and choose. We're not at the level of those guys yet," the former Gunners striker said. "I'm so happy we're in the final, let's see what we can do against this team because that's an outstanding team." Henry stressed the importance of staying grounded, adding: "Stay in your lane, we're not here to pick and choose, let's just hope we can beat PSG, but it's going to be very difficult."

Arsenal's European Resilience vs PSG's Experience

Despite his reservations about Arsenal's pedigree, Henry highlighted positive signs from Mikel Arteta's side. The club has maintained an unbeaten record in European competition and concedes fewer goals than most rivals—factors that could prove decisive against PSG's attacking prowess. Arsenal's drought in the Premier League now stretches 22 years since their last title win, making a European triumph particularly significant for the north London club.

However, Henry acknowledged that PSG's experience as defending champions gives them a substantial edge. The French outfit demonstrated defensive solidity and lethal counter-attacking efficiency against Bayern, showcasing their ability to "kill you in both ways, by scoring more goals than you and by neutralising you." Henry admitted he would be "nervous" for the final—a rare emotional admission from the composed analyst—recognising that a Champions League victory represents something he never achieved during his playing career.

Arsenal faces an enormous challenge against a PSG side that has shown it can dominate possession and absorb pressure while remaining dangerous on transitions. The Gunners' unbeaten European run and tight defensive structure provide a platform for an upset, but PSG's superior tournament experience and attacking talent make them clear favourites to claim back-to-back continental crowns.
