Kane Blames Bayern Munich's Wasteful Finishing After PSG Champions League Exit

Harry Kane has criticised Bayern Munich's inability to convert chances after their devastating Champions League semi-final elimination by PSG. The English striker scored in stoppage time during Wednesday's 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena, but it proved insufficient to overturn their first-leg deficit in a 6-5 aggregate defeat that ended the Bavarian club's continental ambitions.

Kane expressed frustration with his team's profligacy in the final third despite controlling significant periods of play. "Over the two games we had enough opportunities to achieve a different result," the 32-year-old said. "From our point of view, it was a bit wasteful in the attacking third. The final cross, the final pass, the final shot, it just didn't work out today." Bayern's midfield dominated stretches of both matches, yet their strikers struggled to capitalise on the platform created by their defensive and creative players.

Kane's Record Overshadowed by Collective Disappointment

Kane's late equaliser achieved a historic milestone: he became the first player since Cristiano Ronaldo to score in six consecutive Champions League knockout ties. His streak spans both legs against Atalanta, Real Madrid, and now PSG, cementing his status as a consistently clinical finisher in Europe's premier competition. Yet personal achievements offered little solace after Bayern's elimination from a trophy they expected to win.

The striker, who has accumulated 55 goals and seven assists across all competitions this season, remains without a European trophy despite his prolific output. "Congratulations to PSG. They took their chances over both games. That's why we're no longer in the competition," Kane acknowledged, pointing to the visitors' superior efficiency despite Bayern's superior possession and shot count throughout the tie.

Officiating Controversy Compounds Bayern's Frustration

Beyond finishing, Kane highlighted a critical refereeing decision as a potential turning point. PSG defender Nuno Mendes escaped dismissal for what Kane and manager Vincent Kompany believed was a second yellow card offense in the first half. "They clearly should have received a second yellow card," Kane stated. A controversial handball incident involving João Néves further fuelled Bayern's sense of injustice, with Kompany suggesting officials lacked common sense in critical moments.

Despite the pain of elimination, Kane insisted the campaign should not be judged solely on this result. Bayern still pursue the Bundesliga title and face Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal final, offering a chance to salvage silverware. "We dreamed of winning all the titles, and we were good enough to achieve that. That's why it hurts right now. You can't be judged on just one game," he concluded, with the double remaining within reach as Bayern refocus their remaining domestic objectives.
