Casemiro Backs Michael Carrick for Manchester United

Casemiro has publicly endorsed Michael Carrick to become Manchester United's permanent manager, praising the interim boss for his intelligence and composure in handling the squad. The Brazilian midfielder, who departs Old Trafford at season's end, told Rio Ferdinand that Carrick deserves the job based on his ability to improve the team's performances week after week.

"He deserves to stay," Casemiro explained. "The team plays very good. Game by game the team improves. For me it's a big problem because in my opinion he deserved this opportunity. Especially for me, because he played in midfield, he talked with me as a midfielder to a midfielder, it's easier." Carrick has won ten of his fifteen games in charge while securing Champions League football for next season, and United chiefs appear ready to hand him a permanent deal.

Intelligence and Understanding of Club History

What sets Carrick apart, according to Casemiro, is his profound understanding of Manchester United's culture and history. The midfielder highlighted a recent clash with Leeds United as an example of this attribute. "He's very intelligent. But for me, the best thing he knows about the club. He understands the club," Casemiro said. "I remember we played against Leeds, and the meeting is about the history this game… But not everyone knows about Leeds." This institutional knowledge gives Carrick an edge in communicating with players about the club's traditions.

Casemiro also drew comparisons between Carrick and former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, noting that playing at his level creates a positive dynamic. The midfielder praised Carrick's demeanor, especially following the defeat to Newcastle in March. Despite criticism from Sir Jim Ratcliffe about whether Carrick possesses sufficient "alpha" qualities to lead permanently, Casemiro insisted the coach maintains remarkable composure under pressure. "He stays calm every time. He has class," Casemiro said. "I remember in the game at Newcastle, we lost this game. He killed everyone, but with class. He killed us, but with class. So for me, he's a very good manager."

Since Carrick's appointment, Manchester United have accumulated more points than any other club in the Premier League, a statistic that underscores the dramatic turnaround in results and performances. With his interim spell drawing toward a conclusion, the backing from senior players like Casemiro will only strengthen Carrick's case for the permanent position as United prepare for next season.
