Keinan Davis Accuses Cagliari Defender of Racist Abuse in

Keinan Davis has ignited a racism investigation in Serie A after alleging that Alberto Dossena of Cagliari directed a racial slur at him during Saturday's fixture against Udinese. The striker took to social media to publicly denounce the incident, demanding swift action from league authorities while his club pledged full support for their player in the aftermath of what they called "shameful" conduct.

The confrontation unfolded late in the match between the two sides. Davis claimed he heard intolerable language from the defender and immediately sought referee intervention rather than retaliate. Although initially issued a yellow card for his protests, the booking was rescinded once officials grasped the serious nature of his complaint. In his statement, Davis declared: "This racist coward today called me monkey during the game. I hope that Serie A does something on this, but we'll see."

Dossena Denies Allegations as Investigation Looms

Dossena swiftly released a categorical denial, expressing hurt at being accused of racism. The defender stated that such behavior contradicts his personal values and professional history. "Being accused of racism saddens and hurts me. It is a very serious accusation, it would never cross my mind to address another person, a colleague, with an insult of that type," he said. "Such behaviour is as far as possible from my culture and education." Cagliari manager Fabio Pisacane confirmed he questioned the player directly about the incident, receiving a firm denial in response.

Nicolo Zaniolo, Davis's Udinese teammate, escalated the situation by posting a scathing Instagram message. Zaniolo expressed fury at the alleged treatment and suggested that anyone guilty of such conduct should be banned from professional football. His intervention has amplified pressure on Serie A's sporting justice system to launch a formal investigation.

Udinese Demands Swift Action from Serie A

Udinese have made clear they will pursue the matter through official channels, calling for a "rapid definition" of the case to ensure justice if allegations prove substantiated. The club's firm stance reflects growing intolerance toward racial abuse within Italian football, an issue that has plagued the sport for years. Racism cases in Serie A have historically drawn significant scrutiny from UEFA and domestic authorities, with punishments ranging from fines to stadium bans. As the investigation develops, all eyes turn to how Italy's football authorities will handle one of the season's most serious allegations.
