Kane Gets Three Days Off as Bayern Chase Domestic Double

Vincent Kompany has handed Harry Kane and the Bayern Munich squad an unexpected three-day break following an exhausting stretch of matches across the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League. The decision comes after Saturday's hard-fought 1-0 victory over Wolfsburg, which keeps the Bavarian giants on course for a domestic double in the German coach's first season.

The relentless fixture schedule took its toll both physically and mentally. Bayern played every three days while managing the emotional aftermath of their Champions League semi-final exit to Paris Saint-Germain, which ended hopes of a continental treble. Sporting director Christoph Freund acknowledged the strain: "The weeks were extremely intense, also from a mental point of view, with a lot of travel." Against Wolfsburg, 22-year-old goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, deputizing for Manuel Neuer, made four crucial saves in the first half as Bayern struggled to find rhythm.

Recovery and Final Push

Players will return to Sabener Strasse training ground on Wednesday to prepare for two decisive matches. Bayern host Cologne in their final Bundesliga fixture on May 16, where the Meisterschale will be officially presented at the Allianz Arena. The squad will then travel to Berlin for the DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart on May 23.

Freund stressed the importance of the recovery window: "Now let's power down for a moment and then we have our championship game at home, which we definitely want to win. Then we have full focus on Berlin; we want to stay in the rhythm now." Bayern are chasing their sixth consecutive Bundesliga title while seeking to add the cup to cap Kompany's maiden campaign. A domestic double would represent a strong foundation as the club looks to rebuild after their European disappointment.
