Bayern Munich lost two players to injury during the first half of their Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund.
Ismael Saibari was forced off in the 24th minute after a collision with Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Saibari had been sent clear by Konrad Laimer and was one-on-one with Kobel, but pushed the ball too far ahead. When Kobel rushed out to clear, his head collided with Saibari's knee and he trapped the attacker's ankle. Sky commentator Lothar Matthäus suggested the injury could be serious. Nathaniel Brown replaced Saibari.
Minutes later, Serge Gnabry felt sudden pain in his left foot in the 31st minute, though the cause was unclear at the time. Josip Stanisic came on for him. Sky commentator Wolff Fuss later reported, citing information provided to him, that Saibari had suffered an ankle problem and Gnabry an injury to the back of his right thigh.
Bayern also had a scare when Carney Chukwuemeka collided with goalkeeper Jonas Urbig with his knee as Borussia Dortmund appeared to score, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review found Chukwuemeka offside. Urbig received treatment but continued playing.
Bayern took a 1-0 lead into half-time through Konrad Laimer, who scored in the 38th minute after Michael Olise had carried the ball forward from a Dortmund turnover.
