Diego Lopez has officially departed from Genoa CFC, concluding his tenure as the club's Chief of Football after a significant period overseeing the Rossoblù's technical structure. The announcement came following weeks of speculation surrounding management changes at the Serie A club, marking a decisive reshuffling of the executive hierarchy responsible for transfer strategy and squad development.
The Genoese outfit confirmed the departure through an official statement, acknowledging Lopez's contributions to building and refining the sporting infrastructure. During his time in charge of the technical area, Lopez played a central role in developing various departments within the club's management framework, managing recruitment initiatives and overseeing squad composition decisions.
New Structure Takes Shape
Genoa is restructuring its football operations around a new leadership duo. Stefano Melissano and Francois Modesto will form the backbone of the club's revamped transfer market operations, with official confirmations of their appointments expected imminently. This transition signals the club's intent to refresh its approach to player recruitment and contract management as the campaign progresses.
The club's official statement expressed gratitude for Lopez's professionalism and dedication, highlighting his role in strengthening multiple areas of the sporting structure. "Genoa CFC extend to Diego López their best and most sincere wishes for the continuation of his professional career," the club noted, maintaining respectful relations as he moves forward in his career.
Such executive transitions are common in Italian football, where clubs frequently adjust their management structures to adapt to competitive demands and strategic objectives. This reshuffle comes as Genoa continues its Serie A campaign, seeking to stabilize its position in Italy's top division whilst repositioning its transfer strategy for the remainder of the season.
