The 25-year-old emerged as Ajax's primary transfer target after a turbulent period at Molineux. Last week, a training ground incident forced Wolverhampton to cancel a session entirely after manager Gary O'Neil informed Arokodare he was no longer in the club's plans. The striker's refusal to accept the decision escalated the situation at Compton Park, leading the Championship side to deploy additional security to prevent further disruptions.
Disciplinary Issues at Wolves
Arokodare's exit from England comes after a difficult 12 months marked by recurring discipline problems. During the previous campaign, he was sanctioned following an altercation with teenage teammate Mateus Mané in the dressing room following a heavy 4-0 defeat to West Ham United. Sources indicated Arokodare was the sole aggressor in that incident, highlighting an ongoing pattern of behavioural concerns.
The Nigerian arrived at Wolves last summer for €26 million from Belgian outfit KRC Genk, making 36 appearances last season. Despite limited impact with just 6 goals and 2 assists across all competitions, Ajax believe a fresh start in the Eredivisie could reignite his career. The loan arrangement with an optional purchase clause provides flexibility for both clubs, allowing Ajax to assess his form before committing to a permanent transfer, while Wolverhampton create space in their squad for fresh recruitment.
