Wirtz believes that next season Liverpool will make up for what they've missed.
Details: One of the journalists asked a rather provocative question to Liverpool's 22-year-old attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz ahead of the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against PSG.
The journalist inquired whether the players were still playing under Arne Slot's leadership, or if everyone was now acting on their own. The German's response came quickly:
"Yes, of course. We believe in him, and that's the right thing — after all, they won the league last season.
We had a lot of good games, we wanted to achieve more than what we have right now. We still have something to fight for. We believe in the coach." Wirtz stated confidently.
This season is considered a disappointment for Liverpool as the team sits 5th in the Premier League and risks missing out on European football next season if they make a few mistakes before the end of the campaign.
Wirtz joined Liverpool in the summer of 2025 from Bayer for €125 million. He has made 41 appearances for the Reds, scoring 6 goals and providing 9 assists.
