Trabzonspor produced a commanding performance on the road, securing a decisive 3-0 victory over Samsunspor in round seven of the Turkish Super Lig. The win marks a crucial three points for the visitors, who climbed to third place in the standings and demonstrated their credentials as title contenders despite finishing the match with ten men.
The breakthrough arrived in the 27th minute when Ernest Muci broke the deadlock, settling the nerves of the travelling support. Chibueze Onuoha extended the advantage just eleven minutes later with a well-taken second goal, putting Trabzonspor in complete control before the half-hour mark. The Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah came close to adding his name to the scoresheet moments after Onuoha's strike, reacting quickest to a rebound from the Samsunspor goalkeeper's save, only for his effort to deflect off a defender and sail over the crossbar.
Salah's Creative Impact Proves Decisive
Though Salah's shooting chance went begging, the Liverpool loanee made his presence felt in attack by providing the assist for Francolino's third goal in the 40th minute. His movement and positioning in the attacking third consistently troubled Samsunspor's defence, showcasing why he remains one of the division's most influential attacking talents. Salah's creative contribution underlined Trabzonspor's dominance in the first half, with the Turkish club dictating play throughout.
Just before the interval, Melih Kabasakal received a straight red card, forcing Trabzonspor to navigate the second half with numerical disadvantage. The Black Sea club demonstrated composure and defensive discipline, holding firm against Samsunspor's attempts to breach their backline. Working with ten players proved no obstacle to preserving a commanding advantage, with Trabzonspor's shape and work rate preventing any meaningful comeback.
The victory propels Trabzonspor to 13 points, consolidating their position near the summit of the Super Lig table. Samsunspor remain rooted in 16th place with just four points, highlighting the gulf in quality between the two sides on the day. Trabzonspor's next challenge will test whether they can maintain this form and push their title ambitions forward in the coming weeks.
