Manchester United Denied Victory as Everton Equalise in 90+5

Manchester United squandered a stoppage-time victory against Everton, conceding a dramatic late equaliser to draw 2-2 at Goodison Park. Benjamin Sesko's 88th-minute header appeared to have secured three points for Michael Carrick's side, only for Ainsley Maitland-Niles to curl home an extraordinary finish in the 95th minute that left the hosts stunned.

The Red Devils dominated possession throughout but failed to capitalise on their control early on. Marcus Rashford created space on the flank and sent a low cross towards an unmarked Matheus Cunha, who couldn't direct the effort on target. Everton nearly capitalised on United's wastefulness before the interval when Thierno Barry's close-range header narrowly cleared the bar following a dangerous delivery from Merlin Röhl.

Sesko Puts United Ahead

United made their decisive breakthrough in the 51st minute when Bryan Mbeumo drove forward and finished clinically past Jordan Pickford to make it 1-0. Everton responded with intensity and relentless attacking pressure. The hosts finally drew level in the 83rd minute as Tyrique George's slick move culminated in Hayden Hackney unleashing a devastating strike into the top corner.

The pendulum swung back towards United four minutes later when Luke Shaw's precise cross found Sesko at the far post. The striker's header deflected off Pickford but crossed the line, restoring United's lead at 2-1. Everton refused to accept defeat, however. In a chaotic finale, Hackney pulled the ball back into the penalty area after a final attacking move. Maitland-Niles pounced on loose possession and curled a superb finish into the top-left corner, denying Carrick's side what would have been a crucial three points.

This result leaves United's early season momentum in question following their impressive 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town, sandwiched between their opening-day loss to Hull City. Their next fixture will be crucial as they seek to climb the table and rediscover consistency.
