Al-Ittihad have rekindled their interest in acquiring Al-Ettifaq winger Khalid Al-Ghannam ahead of the summer transfer window, according to transfer insider Ben Jacobs. The Saudi club had reportedly stepped back from negotiations earlier in the year after manager Jens Wissing withheld approval, but fresh reports confirm the Roshn League giants remain actively engaged in talks for the 25-year-old talent.

Jacobs noted that while the club continues working toward an agreement, they remain unwilling to exceed their budget limits due to restrictions placed on their spending capacity. Meanwhile, two other Saudi clubs—Al-Qadsiah and Al-Ahli—have also registered their interest in the attacking midfielder, intensifying competition for his signature.

Al-Ghannam emerged as one of the Roshn League's standout performers last season, finishing as the top-scoring Saudi player with 13 goals. His impressive displays have naturally drawn attention from multiple suitors across the kingdom's top division. The winger recently represented Saudi Arabia at the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in North America before the team's group-stage elimination, earning additional rest as a result of his international exertions.
Al-Ettifaq, the player's current club, appear unfazed by the transfer noise. The club has implemented a customized fitness programme to rebuild Al-Ghannam's conditioning after he missed early stages of pre-season and training camps in Spain. This deliberate approach suggests Al-Ettifaq intend to retain their prized asset and are not rushing into any negotiations. Al-Ghannam's career has spanned multiple Saudi clubs: three seasons at Al-Nassr, one year at Al-Qadsiah, and previous stints with Al-Fateh, Al-Hilal on loan, and his current base at Al-Ettifaq.
