Davies Out Again as Bayern Munich Face Wolfsburg After PSG

Alphonso Davies will miss Bayern Munich's trip to Wolfsburg this weekend after Vincent Kompany confirmed the Canadian left-back is sidelined by another muscular injury. The setback comes just days after Bayern's Champions League semi-final elimination by Paris Saint-Germain, compounding a difficult period for the Bavarian club's injury-ravaged squad.

The 25-year-old has endured a frustrating season marked by recurring fitness problems. After missing significant time with a cruciate ligament tear earlier in the campaign, Davies returned in December and made 23 appearances across all competitions, recording one goal and five assists. Yet muscular fatigue has repeatedly disrupted his progress, leaving Kompany without his primary left-sided defender for crucial matches.

Growing Injury Crisis at the Allianz Arena

Davies is not Bayern's only concern heading into Saturday's Bundesliga fixture. Serge Gnabry, the German winger, is also unavailable, further depleting Kompany's options in attacking positions. With the medical department stretched thin, Bayern face a mounting challenge to maintain their standards during a demanding stretch of the season.

The injury timing is particularly frustrating given Bayern's 6-5 aggregate defeat to PSG eliminated them from European football. Kompany acknowledged the disappointment but refused to allow his team to use it as an excuse. "There is no difference between PSG and Wolfsburg. Zero," the manager insisted, emphasizing that every fixture carries the same weight at Bayern Munich.

Wolfsburg Battle for Survival

Bayern's opponents present a genuine threat despite occupying 16th place in the Bundesliga. Wolfsburg's 26 points leave them just six points above the direct drop zone, with only two matches remaining in the season. A win would significantly improve their survival prospects in a relegation battle that extends beyond them and 17th-placed St. Pauli.

Kompany has already secured Bayern's 35th German league title but views Saturday as far from a dead rubber. His philosophy demands the same intensity applied against Europe's elite be transferred to domestic opponents fighting for their top-division status. With the DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart scheduled for May 23, Bayern must establish momentum across all remaining fixtures, injuries notwithstanding.
