Ansu Fati Praises Lamine Yamal, Eyes Barcelona Return After

Ansu Fati has expressed his admiration for Lamine Yamal's emergence at Barcelona while reflecting on his career resurgence during a loan spell at AS Monaco. The forward, who endured a difficult period at Camp Nou plagued by injuries, has rediscovered his best form in Ligue 1 and is now considering his next move as a pivotal summer approaches.

Speaking to SER Catalunya, Fati was effusive in his praise for the 18-year-old winger's talent and mental fortitude. "He's incredible. He has a gift. He's a star," the former Barcelona No.10 said. Beyond technical ability, Fati highlighted Yamal's psychological strength as his defining characteristic. "He's very focused and mentally strong. I hope he can continue like this for many years and bring a lot of joy to the Barça fans."

Finding Form Again in France

After struggling at Brighton during a previous loan stint, Fati has thrived under Monaco's system. The forward has scored 11 goals across Ligue 1 and the Champions League this campaign, averaging a strike every 110 minutes—a rate that underscores his renewed confidence. "I feel comfortable playing and I'm enjoying it. It's been years since I've been able to play consistently or feel so free on the pitch," Fati explained of his transformation.

The 22-year-old acknowledged the invisible struggles that undermined his Barcelona career. "My dream has always been to succeed at Barça and to be able to play, but many things have happened that people don't see, that they don't know about or what I've been through," he revealed. "I've had many injuries and I haven't had the consistency or the opportunity. Football moves very fast and there's no patience." This statement reflects the harsh reality facing young talents in elite clubs where depth and competition leave little room for injury rehabilitation.

Barcelona's Future Uncertain

Despite his Monaco success, Fati has not ruled out a return to Barcelona, though he remains noncommittal. "I still don't know what will happen next year. We'll wait until the season is over and make the best decision for me and my career," he stated. His loyalty to the club remains evident—he would have attended the Clasico to support Barcelona had his schedule permitted—yet pragmatism shapes his thinking as he evaluates options that prioritize playing time and stability.
