Flick Confirms Lewandowski Barcelona Exit: 'Good for Him and

Robert Lewandowski has officially confirmed his departure from Barcelona this summer, ending a prolific four-year spell in Catalonia. Head coach Hansi Flick paid tribute to the 37-year-old Polish striker, acknowledging the mutual decision while emphasizing the veteran's immense contribution to the club's recent success.

Flick, who previously managed Lewandowski at Bayern Munich, addressed reporters ahead of Barcelona's La Liga fixture against Real Betis. "The conversation went well. He spoke with the team and said his goodbyes. It's been a great period. I told him I won every title with him. That's nine titles in total," Flick explained. The German tactician underscored Lewandowski's professionalism and dedication, noting that the forward's decision to seek a new challenge was understandable at this stage of his career.

End of an Era at Camp Nou

Lewandowski arrived from Bayern Munich in 2022 for €50 million and transformed Barcelona's attacking threat over four campaigns. In the 2024-25 season alone, he netted an extraordinary 42 goals, playing a central role in the club's domestic treble pursuit. Across his Barcelona tenure, he accumulated 119 goals in 191 appearances, placing him 14th in the club's all-time scoring charts. Beyond statistics, the striker claimed seven major trophies, including three La Liga titles and three Spanish Super Cups, with his debut season highlighted by winning the Pichichi Trophy as La Liga's leading scorer.

The Polish international took to social media to confirm his exit, stating his mission in Spain was complete. Flick reiterated that the hierarchy at Camp Nou respected the decision entirely. "The decision was made this way. We didn't consider other possibilities. We respect it," he affirmed, adding that Lewandowski deserves a proper send-off as a starter in his final appearances.

Succession Challenge Ahead

Finding a replacement for Lewandowski presents Barcelona with a significant recruiting challenge. Flick acknowledged the difficulty candidly: "It's clear that it's not easy to find someone of Robert's calibre. He's a fantastic professional and a great person." The club believes sufficient time exists before the transfer window closes to identify a suitable successor, with the manager emphasizing the need to "renew the structure" in attack.

Beyond his goal-scoring prowess, Lewandowski served as a mental cornerstone in Barcelona's dressing room during a period of financial and competitive transition. Flick highlighted the forward's leadership and resilience: "He's a great role model. He gives his all. It's been a privilege to work with him and see how hard he works. He's always been there, in the tough times." Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal has reportedly submitted a formal contract offer worth approximately €90 million per season, signalling the veteran's continued marketability in the transfer market.
