Sarr Returns to Training as Juventus Prepare for Sassuolo

Pape Sarr trained with Juventus for the first time since arriving from Tottenham, marking a significant step forward in his recovery ahead of Sunday's trip to Sassuolo. The Senegalese midfielder participated in a partial session on Thursday as the Serie A club intensified preparations for the away fixture at the Mapei Stadium.

Sarr has been managing minor fitness issues brought with him from his summer move to Turin. His involvement in group training suggests manager Luciano Spalletti could include him in the squad for this weekend. Should Sarr feature, it would represent his first appearance in Bianconeri colours following his transfer to Continassa.

McKennie and Cambiaso Face Longer Recovery

The outlook differs for Weston McKennie and Andrea Cambiaso, who continued individualised work away from the main group. Both players face steeper battles to be available for the Sassuolo encounter and remain major doubts. The American midfielder and left wing-back are instead targeted for Juventus' Europa League clash against Nijmegen next Thursday, allowing extra recovery time.

Of Juventus' extended injury list, Sarr, McKennie and Cambiaso stand closest to returning. However, other absentees including Ekhator, Cabal, Boga, Yildiz, Thuram and Locatelli face considerably longer timelines to regain fitness. This injury depth has challenged Spalletti's squad rotation, with several players unavailable for the fixture against the promoted Sassuolo side.

Juventus will seek to maintain their Serie A momentum when they travel to Reggio Emilia on Sunday evening, with Sarr's potential involvement adding attacking depth to the midfield.
