Youri Mulder has raised serious concerns about Tjark Ernst's goalkeeping performance during Barcelona's dominant display against Feyenoord in their recent European encounter. The analyst, speaking on Ziggo Sport, focused particular criticism on the German goalkeeper's positioning when Karim Adeyemi scored Barcelona's second goal with a curling strike from the left wing.
Mulder argued that Ernst failed to react adequately to Adeyemi's clinical finish. "The keeper could take one more step," Mulder explained, scrutinising the goalkeeper's placement relative to the far post. "He's standing a little too far to the right. When he starts to push off, he hasn't taken that extra step needed to cover the space." Jon Dahl Tomasson, a former Feyenoord striker analysing alongside Mulder, agreed entirely with the assessment, emphasising that better positioning could have prevented the goal.
Barcelona's Clinical First-Half Display
The hosts had already broken the deadlock just three minutes into the match when Raphinha carved through Feyenoord's defence, beating two defenders before dispatching a precise finish inside the penalty area. This early strike set the tone for Barcelona's dominance throughout the first half.
While Mulder acknowledged that Adeyemi's technique was exceptional—a well-executed curling shot that posed considerable difficulty—he noted that the forward received excessive time and space to shoot. Tomasson reinforced this point, suggesting that sharper defensive pressure could have disrupted the chance before it developed. The criticism reflects broader defensive vulnerabilities that Feyenoord struggled to address during their away fixture at Camp Nou.
